• Eastern Illinois baseball will host UT Martin in a pivotal three-game Ohio Valley Conference series this weekend. Entering the weekend, Eastern Illinois holds a one-game advantage over both UT Martin and Eastern Kentucky for eighth place in the conference standings.
• Due to the commencement ceremonies on the EIU campus, for Saturday's contest, fans are asked to park in the "W lot", which is the parking lot just South of the rugby field on 4th street.
• Dougie Parks provided a spark in the EIU offense last week as he finished with a team-high of four home runs and 11 RBIs and a slugging percentage of 1.105 during the five-game stretch. Parks now has 14 home runs on the season and is tied with Bret Pignatiello (2002) and Mike Rooney (1987) for 10th all-time in single-seasson home runs at EIU. In the OVC this season, Parks is tied for fourth in home runs, ranks sixth in RBIs (49) and eighth in total bases (106).
• Joseph Duncan swiped a pair of bags and collected two mult-hit games in the Morehead State series. Duncan is on the verge of three single-season top-10 lists in EIU history. He needs just 17 at-bats, 14 hits or four stolen bases to engrave his name in the top-10 single-season charts at EIU.
• As a team, the Panthers turned five double plays in the second game of the Morehead State series, which marked the first time an EIU defense turned five double plays in a game since the 2008 season against UT Martin.
• Jimmy Govern enters the weekend as one of the top hitters in the OVC in conference-only games. In OVC contests, Govern is batting a blistering .447 and ranks second in the conference. Govern also ranks sixth in on-base percentage (.494), seventh in slugging percentage (.776) and eighth in total bases (59).
• Brendon Allen will get the ball to start on Friday against UT Martin. Allen will be making his 15th appearance and 10th start of the season. Michael McCormick is in line to start for the Panthers on Saturday. McCormick will be making his 13th appearance and 10th start of the season. At this time, Eastern Illinois has not named a starter for the series finale on Sunday.
• Following their three-game series against UT Martin this weekend, the Panthers will play their final non-conference contest of the 2017 season on the road at Chicago State on Tuesday.
• Eastern Illinois is playing its 111th season of intercollegiate baseball. EIU has an all-time record of 1,747 wins and 1,544 losses. Head Coach Jason Anderson is in his 2nd season as the Panthers skipper after being hired to take on the role in the summer of 2015. Anderson picked up the first win of his coaching career with a 10-8 victory over No. 12 Arkansas in 12 innings on March 5, 2016.
