Golden Eagles Hit Past Panthers(이스턴일리노이대학교) Eastern Illinois University/미국주립대유학원


Tennessee Tech regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning and kept the advantage the rest of the game as the Golden Eagles won by a score of 11-4 over the Panthers on Saturday.


Eastern Illinois dropped to 5-21 (2-6 OVC) while Tennessee Tech improved to 22-7 (11-0 OVC).


Eastern Illinois struck first in the opening inning of the game. Jimmy Govern laced a one-out single to center and came around to score later in the inning on a two-run home run by Dougie Parks as the Panthers took an early 2-0 lead.


Tennessee Tech answered right back in the bottom half of the inning. Alex Junior knocked a lead-off single up the middle and cut the deficit in half on a Trevor Putzig RBI double to right-center field. Following a walk, a groundout move the TTU runners up to second and third. Chase Chambers put the Golden Eagles ahead, 4-2, with a three-run home run out to right-center field.


Eastern Illinois rallied back to tie the score at four on a Justin Smith RBI single in the second and an RBI groundout by Parks in the fifth.


With runners on the corners for Tennessee Tech, the Golden Eagles took advantage of an EIU error to regain the lead in the bottom of the sixth. TTU added another run in the inning and followed with three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth and took the 11-4 victory.


Michael McCormick suffered the loss on the mound for the Panthers as the senior allowed six runs (four earned) in six innings pitched.


Govern led the EIU bats as he finished the game 2-for-4. Parks, Albert, Smith, Nicholas McCormick and Andrew Curran all recorded one hit each.


The Panthers and Golden Eagles will finish their series on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
